We’ve finished adding the “Reset Screen” (aka Reset Display) feature to v4.5 and it works a little differently than in v4 (and is now consistently referred to as “Reset Screen”). The older version used what was essentially a tenth custom screen behind the scenes and using the “Reset Display” command would select that screen while the “Save Reset Screen” command would set it to the current screen configuration. The new version always selects “Screen 1” and then applies the saved chart panel configuration to the primary chart panel. By default the reset configuration selects Vector Charts, enables look-ahead and H-UP, and sets the scale to somewhere around 1:10,000 to 1:20,000. Use the “Screens > Save Reset Screen” command to change those defaults to the primary chart panel’s current configuration. Resetting the screen will also close the browser if it’s open, and show the top-most instrument panel. As with v4, you can reset the screen by quick pressing the spacebar three times, or add the Reset Screen button to one of your instrument panels and use that.
We’ve added the global Sailing option from v4 so you can select between rhumb-line (Mercator) and great-circle calculations for distances and bearings. We’ve also added a new per-leg option so you can have route legs that use a sailing other than the global setting.
And, as usual, we’ve made other adjustments and fixed various problems, including:
- Added “Activate Waypoint” to the context menu of waypoints in the active route
- Changed the chart orientation button to look like the one in v4
- Use Online Charts and Data is now a global option rather than per-chart-panel
- The Use Online Charts and Data option is now restored on a restart of the app
- Added a color option to Own-Ship Display Options
- Ensure a “yellow bar” message is visible while a boundary alarm is sounding
- Messages sent to a vessel via the portal can now be read while offline [rose-point-ecs]
- Added a Reset Screen instrument panel button
- Added the Save Reset Screen command to the Screens browser
- Fixed drag and drop on touch screens in the Screens browser (including the instrument panel editor)
- Added the Sailing option Settings > Measurements
- Added a Sailing option to the route leg properties
- Fixed some problems where all the settings were not restored when selecting a custom screen
- Ensure active routes remain visible even when their layer is hidden
- Improved startup performance when not connected to the internet
