I have re-modeling my computer for Coastal Explorer (retiring windows 10) and have installed CE on a linux platform in a wine/bottles container. CE loads and runs just fine but the new install wants me to run the URL that patches the tide and current data into the software. I can’t seem to get a Windows browser to work under the linux bottles/wine container.
Is there another way to download this patch? Or is there a new release that includes this fix.
I have CE SetupCE4-25279-1638. I have been using CE since it was first introduced as a free beta software. This is a great product and I’d really like to keep it operating onthe tablet that used to run Windows 10. I have converted this tablet (ASUS T-102) to Linux Zorin 18.1. Any help would be appreciated.
What do you mean by “the new install wants me to run the URL that patches the tide and current data”? There’s nothing in Coastal Explorer that “knows” about that add-on until it is installed, so there shouldn’t be anything prompting you to do anything with it.
Regardless of what’s going on there, though, the only way to install the data is to download the file from 2026 US Tide and Current Data - Rose Point and follow the directions on that page. It is not necessary to use a Windows browser; any way you can get that file to Coastal Explorer should work.
However, we’ve never been able to get Coastal Explorer to run reliably on Wine. We haven’t tried in a while and Wine is always improving, so you may have better luck.
