Plugged NGX gateway into com port 7 - can view and log the n2k pgn’s from actisense reader. CE identifies in electonics-com ports as “Actisense NGX (COM7)” but the autodetect fails after trying 3 low baud rates (never tries the 115200 standard) - error code 995.

I’ve never used an NGX but understand that it has multiple modes that are configured with its included software and how the device is configured in Coastal Explorer depends on the mode you are using.
One of its modes is for passing untranslated NMEA 2000 messages to the PC (they call this “transfer mode”). This is usually going to be the preferred mode when using Coastal Explorer, but it does require installing a plug-in. The process for installing the plug-in and configuring Coastal Explorer is covered in the help system and you can find the topic by searching help for “actisense” (the topic mentions the NGT-1 device which is the predecessor o the NGX).
If you are using the NGX in its NMEA 2000 to NMEA 0183 mode (which they call “convert mode”), and you’ve selected a baud rate with the NGX configuration software, then auto-detect would normally find it. However, the NGX apparently performs its own automatic baud rate detection which would prevent Coastal Explorer’s from working. Since auto-detect is not working for you, you would need to manually select the baud rate that the device is configured to use, or if it is using it’s auto-detect feature, you need to pick a baud rate and enable the talker option so the NGX can figure out what baud rate to use.
