Beta Voyage plan

When using the beta voyage plan I click on the company route and it brings me to the properties page , clicking activate brings me to the voyage plan page in the browser, I notice that the route is from Mathews Pt. to KTD-561 but that the AIS is coded(Distination US^OUW8). Currently we will go in and change the destination to the city or dock we are going to but was wondering if it would be possible to have the AIS automatically do this without the code being used for our destination. Thanks as always Bubba

Also in an effort to eliminate accidental tracks being made was wondering if the default tracking should be in the stop tracking instead of the start new track? I often see crews just hitting the Stop Navigation when getting to their destination but not changing the tracking status. Thanks again :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Those unfortunate destination codes are from the Coast Guard’s AIS encoding guidelines. I thought they were starting to enforce their use, but maybe they aren’t in your area (yet). I can look into making them optional.

The tracking option change is tricky as some people always want a track to be recorded, but like having separate tracks for each passage, and since ECS has defaulted to starting a new track for years now, this sort of change is likely to upset some users. However, is the problem you’d like solved caused by the small track that would be created between Stop Navigation and a subsequent Start Navigation? If it is, I think we could probably do something where a new track is not started upon Start Navigation when one was very recently created by a Stop Navigation… Otherwise, we could probably change the default to be whatever was selected the last time Stop Navigation was used. What do you think?

I like the idea of changing the default to be whatever was selected the last time stop navigation was used and think that might solve the unintended tracks that we see from time to time.:+1::+1::+1:

I’ll check in on the coding issue, for years I wondered why our final destination was “Gibberish” and why the end point of our route wasn’t used. Thanks for clearing it up for me.

Here’s a link to the current AIS encoding guide in case it helps: https://www.navcen.uscg.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/AIS/AISGuide.pdf
