Can’t get the ais to work

I’m connected to the internet my location is on. I’m using an iPad everything is updated and location is always on for coastal explorer and it just doesn’t seem to be doing anything no position no movement tracking nothing. It says no ais

Says these require an ais receiver or transponder. Not a way to make it work off my data?

Coastal Explorer on your iPad does not require AIS, reciver or transponder. It only requires that if you want to see AIS targets. For that you’d need a way to get AIS data into the iPad, which is certainly possible, but it’s not as simple as using the GPS that may be built-in to iPad, depending on the model you have.

Does your iPad model have a GPS built-in? Usually, only the ones that also have cellular include a GPS in the iPad itself.

It’s an iPad only 10th gen. But it has location built in

If you disconnect your iPad from WiFi, does it still show location?
