I cannot find a direct way to import GPX tracks or routes to your products. I’ve never enountered this limitation before in any other navigation app or program. Is there a way to import a GPX file that I’m missing?
The most direct way to import GPX or other data is to use “Layers > Import…”. Some of our products offer additional ways to import data as well.
Thanks Brad, that worked fine on my iPad Pro 12.9. However, when I open a GPX file on the iPad, Coastal Explorer doesn’t appear as one of the choices for loading the file.
The navigation progams that do offer to load an open GPX file include: Aqua Map, Boating (from Navionics), Active Captain (from Garmin), TZ iBoat (from Nobeltecl) - and frankly, every other navigation program I’ve tried.
Will you be adding this functionality in the future?
It’s certainly possible, but we don’t like to say we “will” add a feature until we actually do or at least are sure that it’s going to happen soon.
Brad, not only is it possible, it’s the standard of the industry way of loading routes and tracks into navigation programs. Once a GPX file is opened, the user has a choice of which navigation apps to use (see photo). It’s not a feature add, it’s bringing Coastal Explorer up to the level of every other navigation program. Don’t be left behind.
