Layer browser panel list managment questions

As layers are created, they get entered into the layer list shown in the layers browser panel. Opening a Nob file also gets it entered into that list.

The eventual result is that the list gets longer and longer. My layer list is now much longer than the visible panel space. This makes it increasingly awkward to use. At home its become difficult and annoying; under way it’s just not reasonable to try. So before a trip, I tend to make a new layer, with the stuff I may want for that trip - which just increases the number of layers to look thru… :frowning:

I realize that deleting a layer or nob file removes it from the list. However, I do NOT want to delete the layer or Nob file itself (and thus it’s contents).

How can I mange the layer list display?

At a minimum, I want to be able to “hide” a layer from the list. I could then keep a working set of layers visible - which would fit in the panel’s space. This would also imply the need for a way to “un-hide” a hidden layer.

Essentially, I think of the list as CE’s directory display of layers and nob files. I want to manage the layer/nob directory info being displayed.

Things I often find myself wanting to be able to do:

  • Remove a list entry (hide, not delete the object itself)

  • Filter the list (simple name pattern matching would be nice. filter by type: layer or nob or both)

  • Sort the list (name, date modified, ascending/descending order)

Are there ways to do this?
