After looking at the difference from 4.0 to 4.5 was really missing the lack of boat properties, I personally always liked running with the small symbol and using the range rings in C.E.
I used the small icon to show information near the boat and the range rings in conjunction with my radar to verify the accuracy of my fix on the chart.
I also would put the boat dimensions in ECS and use the towboat symbol to show to scale the boat so it looked more like a radar display. One of the best features of Rose Point is the ability to customize the display for the user using it and believe that others might feel the same. Thanks as always Bubba
We will be adding more of the options to v4.5. We’ve heard from a few people now that we need to do something about the symbol, but we’re still trying to figure out the “right thing”.
On the range rings, v4.0 has always had the ability to show an arbitrary number of equally spaced rights around the boat and ECS added two radar-like VRM options. V4.5 ECS has those VRM options, but neither program has the older rings. What do you think of just adding those VRM options to CEv4.5? Would that be sufficient, or do you prefer the other style?
Both v4.5 programs still support setting your vessel size and sensor offsets so the vessel can be shown to scale on the chart. Have you run into any trouble getting that to work?
Are there options other than the symbol and range rights that you feel really need to be supported?
