Running non-beta and beta versions simultaneously?

In the “About the Version 4.5 Beta Test” topic it states that running the beta on a system that already has CE installed is helpful from a licensing perspective, and I have this setup on our boat computer now. Are there any potential issues if I run both production and beta versions of CE at the same time on the same computer? I have two monitors on the computer so can run each on its own screen. We are currently cruising in BC and SE Alaska and I would like to beta test in “real-world conditions”as we go, but don’t want to rely solely on the beta while underway.

In case it matters, we also have a Nemo Gateway as part of our setup.

There should not be any problems with running both programs at the same time. However, I would avoid activating a route on both at the same time unless you are not using an autopilot or disable autopilot control on one of the programs. Having both programs sending information to the autopilot won’t necessarily cause any major problems, especially if both are using the same route, but it might cause some confusion.

Thanks Brad, suspected that was the case but I wanted to be sure. And we found out about the active routes caveat the hard way when I was experimenting with the beta on my laptop while underway and it inadvertently took over navigation… made sense in retrospect but was a bit disconcerting until we figured out what had happened. It is really nice to edit and modify routes on the fly from the laptop and have the route the boat computer is using reflect the changes in near real time (we have Starlink and the cloud layers sync almost immediately between machines).
