Stuck In Cancel After Adding A Layer

TL;DR

Any way to get CE out of stuck in Cancel mode? Same results when adding a layer to a new install . Yes I have good connectivity.

I was pleased to find that CE on a tablet was aware of annotations that I added using desktop CE. Now that I know about that feature I investigated the Layers menu and found I hand annotations in a .nob file and what is called a cloud-synchronized layer. I have no idea how that layer got created. ‘Imported from Route-20231204-1501.gpx’ is the title and I have no memory of doing that either.

Anyway, I wanted to move the annotations from the nob file to the cloud layer and that worked, sort of. The desktop CE switched from Sync Now to Cancel and never finished. Everything was up to date before moving the annotations.

I clicked Cancel and now CE switched to Canceling and stays there after a restart. After several restarts CE wont start at all saying improper shutdown and asks if I want to send a report to support which I did.

The deleted/moved annotations are lost.

After several deletes and installs, attempting to add a layer results in switching Sync Now to Cancel and there it sits hours later.

This sounds like a problem we just discovered and fixed. An official update is likely to be released on Monday, but it is available at https://files.rosepoint.com/CoastalExplorer-4/UpdateCE4-24318-0.exe if you’d like to get it right away.

That fixed it. The annotations I tried to move from the nob file are lost but CE is now working as it should. Thanks very much.

Almost. Without changing any settings I restarted several times and updated the guide book, weather, and whatever it wanted to. Then I switched to update only when clicked and shutdown. On restart I get the not shut down properly and notify support window.

Update only when clicked is what I have always had configured.

I’ll pursue this further tomorrow morning.

This morning I went through the same steps as last night to install and update but no crashes. I dunno.
