Support CE on Snapdragon Surface Pro

I’ve been using CE on the Microsoft’s Surface Pro’s for the last 10+ years and find their compactness and screen to be excellent at the helm mounted on a RAM tablet holder. MS is switching all their new consumer oriented Surface Pro’s to the Snapdragon processors running Windows 11 on ARM. The screens are improved and they run cooler than the Intel processors.

As my current Surface Pro 7 continues to age, I would love to be able to run CE on one of these newer Snapdragon models. Is that something I can look forward to in the near term future?

Hi Kurt,

I’ve run into a couple customers using the new snapdragon chip, and so far the only part that won’t work is the c-map charts licensing. The company that provides that component has stated they have no plans to make it ARM compatible.

Otherwise, if you don’t need or plan on using the c-map charts, it should work via the Windows 11 emulation. I’m unsure on an ETA for official compatibility but know it’s on the list of requested features.

That is good news. I just use NOAA ENC and the Canadian Vector charts purchased through Rosepoint. Thanks for responding.
