I don’t have tides or currents for BC on Coastal Explorer and I just updated it May 18 2026. Seems like this has been a problem for awhile??
A license for the BC charts is required to use the BC tide and current predictions. If you have one then please contact Rose Point Support and they can probably get them working.
I noticed when I recently went north to the Broughtons that a lot of the current stations don’t have current speed ie; Greene Pointe Rapids, Whirlpool Rapids, Chattum Channel, Dent and Yaculta Rapids…previous version I had showed all of these currents as well as Seymour, Current Passage etc….so not near as good as it used to be.
The tide and current tables from CHS do not include speed ratios for those secondary stations so it is not possible to predict their speeds, only the times of slack. It’s possible that those ratios were provided in the past but were found to be inaccurate and removed.
I’m also experiencing errors in this area. Several current stations (referenced on my routes, used last year) are no longer shown, with errors appearing on my route planner. These include Ripple Point, Race Passage, Off Broken Island, Ransom Point, Current Passage. Also, some other references have appeared, but are obviously not shown in the correct location (on shore?). These include Camp Point, Current Passage, Whirlpool Rapids, Blind Channel, Greene Point Rapids. Makes transiting this area a lot more challenging. This area has significant current (and current variations)!
Coastal Explorer only provides predictions for stations listed in the official CHS tide and current tables and at the locations specified in those books. Of the stations you listed, Race Passage is the only one I’m familiar with and you should see predictions for that station in Coastal Explorer. The other stations might have been discontinued for some reason. If you’re not seeing Race Passage then something might have gone wrong with your installation and Rose Point Support can help with that.
