Prior to having the ability to watch voyage recordings in the portal, we would download them and watch them on the native application. This would always skew where the boat is currently located to where it last was on the voyage recording playing in the office.
I had eventually come up with the idea of using a “clearing file” to open after watching these voyage recordings to disassociate the office computer with the original vessel being viewed to correct the portal position issue.
Is there anything that can be done to fix this vessels shown location with its actual? Is it a license association issue? I can’t get this vessel to display correctly.
Are you saying you want the “boat” icon that represents the office computer to go back to where it was before replaying the recording, even though it doesn’t have a GPS connected?
If so, that’s not something that can be done now, but I can certainly add it to the list. However, we’ve also been thinking there should be a way to designate that a system is for an office and not show its location in that case. Are you relying on showing office computers on the chart?
No. If I download a voyage recording off a vessel and play it on my office computer with the native Rose Point ECS application. It changes the MMSI of my office computer setup then associates the office computer with the vessel’s portal location.
For example, I download a file from a vessel that’s currently located in Cairo, IL but
The recording is when the vessel was in Vicksburg, I play that Vicksburg recording back here at the office then the portal location of this same vessel gets stuck at the recording location, not the vessels actual live location location.
To further explain the original picture I sent, when I clicked on that particular vessel that’s located on the Tennessee River, it shot to the GIWW MM193 for the Operations computer back here at the office, from the last time a voyage recording was played from that particular boat.
Oh, that is a completely different problem than I thought! We were aware that an office computer could take on the vessel’s MMSI in this situation, but not that the vessel’s position would become stuck. We’ll look into fixing that right away!
