Why don't these GPX files import?

Coastal Explorer silently fails to import either of these GPX files. One file was created with the Orca app and works in other GPX-supporting apps. I imported it into Navionics and then exported it to a GPX file. The files are different and neither work in Coastal Explorer. Why? Both are valid GPX files.

(I’d have uploaded these instead of pasting them here but apparently GPX files are not able to be uploaded in Rose Point’s forums either)

It looks like we broke importing routes from GPX files with our last update to the mobile apps. This has been fixed for the next update (coming soon) and it does work in the Windows version of Coastal Explorer if you have access to that. I’m sorry for the inconvenience!

Oh… I’m not sure what’s going wrong then but will look into it some more. Which method of importing are you using? (The big Import button on the Layers page, or the “Import from device or file…” option on the Layer page’s menu?)

The big Import… button. It creates a new layer called “Imported from filename” but it has no items in it.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I’m a little stumped at the moment but will keep looking for a way that might fail on your file so we can get this fixed.

In the mean time, you can import the file using coastalexplorer.net and will show up in your Coastal Explorer.

Its not just Troy & his two files.

I just tried importing a .gpx file I previously imported which worked correctly.
Now it creates an empty layer with the name “Imported from filename” but no actual route or waypoints.

This is with the windows version of CE. Version 4.0.25279.1638.

I used the large “Import…” button from the main layers screen.
