The green position bar in the instrument panel isn’t showing up when I have gps fix on Lenovo laptop
Hello Evanna,
This should work but only if your laptop has an internal GPS that exposes the data as NMEA 0183 data through a COM port. Many do not, though. If yours does, you’ll need to configure the COM port where the data is made availble.
If you have a laptop that only exposes the data tghrough Microsoft’s Location Services, you’ll need a program that can manifest the data through a virtual COM port, such as:

I am told that GPS Reverse can do this, but we haven’t tried it ourselves so cannot vouch for it.
Another alternative with some advantages is to purchase an inexpensive USB GPS antenna, like this one:
I don’t normally recommend such inexpensive GPS antenna, but I have used it and it works quite well.
I hope this helps!
The GlobalSat BU-353N USB GPS Puck cost a little bit more… but the advantage is that the supporting software & drivers are not “Made in China”.
Given the choice, I spent a bit more to keep my NAV computer free from the likely potential of Chinese spyware.
